Deadly Ponies is proud to announce their Pearlies Winter ‘17 collection partnership with Lifewise; an Auckland-based community social development agency working towards ending youth homelessness. Initially inspired by the Pearly Society’s craft and dynamic mother-of-pearl button outfits, it was the charity initiatives to help the underprivileged that really struck a chord with our Creative Director, Liam Bowden.

“When visiting San Francisco recently I was shocked by the level of homelessness – this project gives us an opportunity to do our bit for housing New Zealanders in need, says Creative Director Liam Bowden. Everyone deserves to have a place they can call home.” In honour of such a worthy cause, Deadly Ponies will be donating the proceeds of all sales of the handcrafted ‘Lucky Charm’ to Lifewise’s Ending Youth Homelessness’ Big Sleepout campaign fund.

“Access to housing is a basic human right,” says Victoria Hearn, who leads Lifewise’s Service Design & Development for Youth Housing. “Without a safe place to live, it is difficult for young people to access education, gain employment and be independent. I love that Deadly Ponies are acknowledging the very real issue of homelessness in New Zealand and that they’re using their new Pearlies collection to do their bit to help improve outcomes for vulnerable Kiwi youth. It is support like this that allows us to continue our work with young people supporting them to reach their goals, develop life skills, and secure permanent accommodation.
